If for some reason you wanted to exploit people's lack of critical thinking for likes and clicks, this graph sure looks like it's saying something: our GDP grows as 4th-grade reading flounders! Keep teaching that 'balanced literacy' to protect our GDP growth!

My father says I'm too young to be receiving Lifetime Achievement awards but I say some of us just make exceptionally good use of time because maybe our fathers instilled a palpable and urgent sense of our waning mortality in us from age 2 so.... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Conflating these narratives is problematic. We must have nuanced conversations about the real drivers of short, medium, and long-term school district budget woes. It's far too convenient to blame ESSER for fiscal challenges that are decades in the making.
