One of the admins in my elementary school had this thumb-tacked above her desk. Don't ask me why I remember this from, at least, 23 years ago, but it's almost too on the nose with this story.

My father says I'm too young to be receiving Lifetime Achievement awards but I say some of us just make exceptionally good use of time because maybe our fathers instilled a palpable and urgent sense of our waning mortality in us from age 2 so.... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Conflating these narratives is problematic. We must have nuanced conversations about the real drivers of short, medium, and long-term school district budget woes. It's far too convenient to blame ESSER for fiscal challenges that are decades in the making.
