NJ-born - CA resident for almost 30 years. If you’re talking about music, movies, postcards, progressive politics, or the Dodgers, you have my attention.
I’m at El Cid in Silver Lake. @muizyu.bsky.social is going on in a little over an hour, and there are lots of tickets left. Yes, it’s a Monday night, but come on people. Have you not heard her new album?

Just got home from the Academy Museum’s screening of the Oscar-Nominated Documentary Shorts. I’m now 50/50 and am done with this year’s “Oscars Death Race” having seen every nominated movie. (Like most, loved a couple, disliked maybe 2 or 3…)

I just saw Porridge Radio on the last date of their U.S. tour. Phenomenal. If you missed them live, you still can check out their latest album - Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me. You’re welcome.

I wanted to go the G*ve a F*ck LA benefit at the Palladium tonight, but nobody wanted to go with me, so I paid $5 to stream it and I’m watching it on my big TV from my couch with my four chihuahua girls. Arguably a better choice.

After a teensy health scare a year ago, I started counting calories and exercised my way back to health. My favorite ‘crutch’ has been Lesser Evil popcorn.

2) Marianne graciously held court for a few minutes. Then she pulled out the tape with the track, and instructed everyone to clear out. She turned to me, and said “The boy can stay.”
Then she played “Losing”.
I never felt so fortunate to hear a demo in my life.
What an amazing woman.

When I was in my early 20s, Marianne Faithfull dropped in to Island Records on Lafayette St. She was working on a new album with Angelo Badalamenti and wanted Denny Cordell, the head of A&R and my boss, to hear one of the new songs. Everyone piled into Denny’s office, and

…and I just bought a ticket to see the Oscar-nominated Doc shorts at the Academy Museum on Feb 23. It’s $10 insurance in case Death By Numbers isn’t streaming before the awards. #oscardeathrace

In an effort to be more visible here, I’ll just be posting random shit, like in the early days of social networking. So… I just bought a ticket for a virtual screening of Porcelain War. It’s one of the few Oscar nominees that’s otherwise hard to see… #oscarsdeathrace

Trying to watch all the Oscar nominees before the show (it’s a thing). So far, the biggest snub is Dan Hertzfeldt’s “ME” - which made the shortlist but didn’t get a nomination in the Animated Short category. Seek it out.

Why is nobody talking about how amazing the Netflix adaptation of 100 Years of Solitude is? We’re on episode 5 (of 16) and I’m floored at how the essence “unfilmable” novel is so beautifully translated. (Watch it in Spanish) #100yearsofsolitude #netflix

I guess this the day I start my Bluesky life in earnest. I said goodbye to my 3 Meta apps, and will be attempting to post my postcard videos on YouTube starting this week. Any advice on setting up a separate account for the postcard stuff here on Bluesky would be appreciated.

Yet another social media platform - and I go and launch a postcard writing project. For real. I guess I’m just feeling analog.
