Is this the weakest goaltending situation the Habs have had since the Roy trade? Always seems they were able to find a workable option even in the grimmest of seasons (Moog, Hackett, Theodore, Huet, Halak, etc.) before the rise of Price provided stability in the crease for essentially 10 years.

Agreed. It is truly disheartening to see our government pouring so much money into an industry already filled to the brim with private equity (and about to burst!), instead of investing in programs to serve its citizens.

Sorry to rant... But I hate how gambling has completely consumed sports media... Podcasts have full segments about betting odds, every second TV commercial is about betting, the biggest stars of the game plastered in print ads. It's honestly sickening. Gambling ruins lives... Yuck.

I eagerly await the scorched-earth tell-all book based on all your DMs from over the years. Coming fall 2030...

That is hockey at its absolute best. No notes.

Cole Caufield has as many goals this post season as Matthews, Marner and Nylander combined. And he played for an 8th seed that lost in 5 games...

This "writer" also doesn't take into account the consequences of firing a coach the current team probably really likes. Even in this fever dream scenario where he's trying to hire Sullivan to attract Crosby—How do Suzuki, Caufield, Gallagher, etc. all react to that move? Probably not well...

I encourage you to look up Habs-Sens Round 1 in 2015 for inspiration.

"So much discipline shown there by Wilson as he face washed Brendan Gallagher after the play there"

Meanwhile the Sportsnet broadcast team are constantly singing his praises...

Not a single day goes by that I regret leaving that heinous platform...

That was atrocious.

I take it back. That non-call on the crosscheck to the face of Caufield was atrocious.
April 24, 2025 at 1:35 AM
It's very frustrating. But come to think of, maybe I'd actually rather they just let the play flow for the rest of the game than give the Habs a powerplay where every chance can just die on Laine's stick...

Canadian theatre can be such an unserious business at times. As a speech therapist, it is part of my professional code of conduct that if I engage in a sexual relationship with a client within a year of working with them professionally, it is considered sexual assault.

Oh, interesting. In my memory (obviously less reliable) the Caps were like the Monstars from Space Jam and every game felt like a complete shooting gallery.

Games 5, 6, and 7 of that series remain the most outrageous performance by a goalie I've ever seen. It was magical. One would think they'd need something similar this year...
