“When life gives you lemons” is not a very accurate metaphor. A lemon is just a useful food ingredient. I am grateful for receiving lemons. Overripe bananas, on the other hand, require swift action. “When life gives you overripe bananas, bake banana bread” is therefore the superior choice.
