You're thinking about five steps more than your median primary voter. We're dorks. We get this stuff. All normie primary voters will see is Charismatic White Religious Liberal Wins Texas

Ironically, both all the centrists and everybody here doesn't realize the median view on Kamala among Democratic voters is "candidate I like and agree with on most things that got a very bad luck of the draw", not super woke leftist _or_ Liz Cheney loving genocidal centrist.

If Talarico wins, he's immediate at worse, 2nd or 3rd in primary polls.

It's something that even Dan Quayle who was basically shorthand for 'bad VP' was actually one of the people consoling Pence not to do a fascism on 1/6.

Again, Trump due to needing political strength not to end up in jail and his own weird personal values is the moderating force in the current White House.
February 5, 2026 at 1:15 AM
Yeah, if Trump had been impeached and COVID was actually over by summer of 2021 and we had 2016 Biden instead of 2020 Biden, it might've worked.
February 5, 2026 at 1:14 AM
It's the type of Democratic voter Matt despises the most.
February 4, 2026 at 11:12 PM
The scariest thing is for political survival and personal values as scary as that is, Trump is the moderating force in the WH right now. President Vance doesn't take Lockjaw out of Minneapolis.

Hell, I guarantee there are older Establishment Black Democrats who just missed the Civil Rights period who are praying in church daily ICE gets pushed close to their church that acts as a polling place.
February 4, 2026 at 10:59 PM
I mean if any of the last two happen, we're in the Cool Zone.
February 4, 2026 at 10:57 PM
You think an 80% black precinct in say Milwaukee is going to be threatened by half a dozen ICE dorks?
February 4, 2026 at 10:56 PM
Two things can be true -

1.) There were a bunch of annoying clout chasing college kids at Occupy

2.) The anarchists are insanely wrong about any society larger than 50-100 people.

He literally doesn't know who did this. There's nobody to reach out too.

I guarantee McKay has never actually seen the ads AIPAC runs against anti-Israel Democratic congresspeople. Hint, Israel almost never comes up in the ads, but dumb and stupid votes or dumb and stupid things the congresspeople did.
January 29, 2026 at 8:43 PM
AOC, Omar, and Tilab all managed to do these things and are still in office because they're actually talented politicians and not slightly corrupt, kinda dumb (laudatory), or self-absorbed.
January 29, 2026 at 8:41 PM
If I was an anti-Zionist Congressperson, I would simply not vote on the same side as right-wing Republicans when it comes to Dem President's spending bills Dems overwhelmingly support, not do dumb or corrupt things, or call the incumbent still popular President a bowl of shit.
January 29, 2026 at 8:41 PM
Considering even Lula in Brazil faced a smaller version of the same problem, it's not just a woke SJWs in San Francisco issue.
January 29, 2026 at 3:11 AM
Right, Jon Tester and other centrists are actually right it's easier for low-info swing voters to see views of left-wing people they don't like and associate them w/ the Democratic Party as a whole. It's the Democrats (and other center-left parties) jobs to figure out to win despite that.
January 29, 2026 at 3:11 AM
I think this has basically just been said openly - the caucus kind of didn't like Reid because he made them vote on hard stuff.
January 29, 2026 at 12:08 AM
The thing is, Byrd was fine at worst by the 80s to 90s on race - he was still deeply conservative on all other social issues but in a consistent way that wasn't just CW bullshit - opposed a flag burning amendment when your typical 'moderate' would support it.
January 29, 2026 at 12:06 AM
They have the perfect left-wing parties in countries all over the world and that doesn't result in young people turning out more than older people in those countries either. The reality is for a variety of reasons, fewer young people care about politics than older people beyond the Dems are centrist
January 29, 2026 at 12:00 AM
I'd guarantee almost all of those Democrats were left of the median voter in their states in 2009.
