When the digital sound processor failed at my single screen theater that still runs film, I joked that we’d have to ditch the digital nonsense and become the New New Beverly. My friends reopened The Gap as a 35mm venue, and it’s the real New New Beverly.

I was thrilled to see how many patrons were making use of our public library on a Monday evening when I brought my son to renew his library card. I was not so thrilled about the condition of their microfilm reader. 😱

Got this reassembled for display today after salvaging it from UPenn’s Annenberg Center last year. The soundhead, lamp, and rectifier are basically brand new. Maybe they’ll end up back in a booth one day…

For the first hundred years of its history this theater ran film. Ditched it to go digital in 2013. I restored the projector in 2020, and here we are in 2025, still running 35mm.
Just wish we had a second projector so we could ditch the 6K reels!
