Nothing makes me as mad as this: perfectly cleared side walk with no thought to clear access to the crosswalks. All sides of this corner were like this
A nicely plowed side walk with over 2ft of snow bank someone would have to climb over to actually get to the sidewalk or cross the street.

Adding to this discourse by promoting the two books that got me into mending - something that IS time consuming but absolutely satisfying as a project
The book, “Mending Life: A handbook for repairing clothes and hearts” by Nina and Sonya Montenegro, the sisters who create under the name The FarWoods. The book is multicolored patchwork with visibile mending stitches and a needle and thread The book, “Mending Matters: stitch, patch, and repair your favorite denim and more,” by Katrina Rodabaugh. The cover shows a photo of a stack of folded blue denim garments each with beautiful sashiko stitching with white thread.

Looking through my 7yo’s school work and found this. Wish people in our govt had this level of understanding
A 2nd grade school work sheet with the prompt “use the word in a sentence” and in 7yo handwriting is written, “segregation is bad.” And it asks for a picture to match and the 7yo drew a stop segregation sign.

I had trifecta of nature encounters: bobcat at the edge of the yard/meadow pouncing on voles, beaver watching us askance as we skated, and a heron flew right overhead as I sat at dusk on the frozen pond taking a minute of peace after my kids had gone back to the house

Post a non-religious photo you think of as holy
The painting “Painterly Realism of a Boy with a Knapsack - Color Masses in the Fourth Dimension, 1915” also known as “Black Square and Red Square” by Russian artist Kasimir Malevich from 1915. It’s an oil painting of a black square and a smaller red square on a white ground. The red square is slightly askew as if it was a shoulder bag being carried by the black square. In person you can see the brush strokes and notice that the edges are not perfectly straight which makes known the artist’s hand.
