30: Lying Season (Experiment in Terror 4) by Karina Halle 💙📚
⭐⭐⭐
🎧📱 audio & ebook

For maybe the first 1/2 it was another fave of the series, but the will they-won't they back & forth is just dragging and I was appalled by something Perry did in this book 😭😭 Too much drama, not enough scares.

🎧📘 audiobook & hardcover

Refreshingly good after a couple of disappointments, and interesting from the get-go. Really enjoyed the MC POV and the bits of mystery. Great ending!

Pendergast slump continues. Some exciting bits, great ending. Hated the treatment of one female character and the first story climax was just silly.

🎧 audiobook

Started this in May & didn't care about the first 1/3, but couldn't put it down after 50%. Premise isn't my thing & I could not care about the "romance," but the twist was pretty awesome and I like how it was handled. The ending, less so.

aaaand finally what you probably won't see apart from this post lol, I think I'm pretty much out of my Star Wars phase for a variety of reasons 😭

I'll always have a soft spot for Rebels, TBB, and Alphabet Squadron, but 🥲

Don't understand the hype. Also can't fathom this was written by a woman; men & women are treated like different species which is the 1 thing I wanted to avoid lmao. Most heteronormative male gazey thing i've read. Didn't enjoy the drama.

Weird, super creative, very cool worldbuilding. Probably a 2024 fave but not an all-time fave like I hoped. A few silly elements I didn’t jive with but the humor was otherwise great, & fantastic characters. MAJOR CWs.

Def reading more Peter Watts, love his style. Only "dislike" was the amount of technical language/high-concept stuff I had no hope of wrapping my head around but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ sci-fi! The text also has a cool secret message!

Idk if anthologies are for me, at least while unmedicated lol. I enjoyed each story but my task initiation is 💩 & it was hard starting some. Regardless loved many concepts & the variety of horror/dark fiction. Def looking for more by these authors.

Liked it but man is it a slow build. 60% in is just too much for the spooky stuff to start! I did love the Salem's Lot vibes and how everything came together.

Kind of hard to get through, this case was way better in the show though a few key differences were interesting. Character choices & reasoning were not handled as well.

Fave of 2024! Love LOVE this book. Might be 5 stars, just a few things I preferred in the beginning vs the end. Audio is v good but I did have to pick up the ebook bc the "French" accents are hard to understand. Go in w/o knowledge but major cw!
