Pathogen-driven pressure selects for human UMOD genes that overproduce the urinary protein uromodulin, even though that overproduction can lead to kidney disease.

Important protection from UTIs during reproductive years > risk of kidney disease later in life.

It’s a real mix. Bacteria, virus isolates, nuclei acid, protein, and clinical samples. They’d be for long term storage, nucleic acid purification, MS, sequencing. It’s really varied and interested in peoples’ experience in any of those categories.
