Australian poet and MLIS student livin' in YEG. He/Him, They/Them. My scifi verse novella ERRANT NIGHT lives here: https://recentworkpress.com/product/errant-night/
The programming looks great, and I'd love to catch even a single day's attendance, but I'm not risking border crossing in Trump's America.

Also: having ERRANT NIGHT be reviewed by the Australian Book Review - damn near the highest level of literary critique in the country - and ALSO be shortlisted for the John Bray award? Incredibly humbling, and so damn validating for my first book. x

[On Breathing Water]
APS. Oh APS. I owe so much to this piece, to this org, to performing at the Sydney Opera House, and having a vid after to share! This poem defined my practice for a long time, and I’m still damn proud of that shy kid reppin' the ACT on stage.

Oh sharehouses! A nod to what we’re willing to accept as living conditions. This was where enjambment hit me as a tool to keep. I was listening to Gil Scott-Heron & reading Ginsberg, trying to figure out what kinda poet I wanted to be. Still am.

[Truckstop Nights]
This poem was an ode to the long coach rides I'd take, and the possibility that fills the air in those halfway pitstops. For that reason, I was thrilled that hobo camp review took it on board; it felt like a match made on the open road.

Righteous indignation is a real buzz. Very proud to get into Cordite, too! That had been a goal for a long time. One of those beautiful bursts of writing; very little editing needed doing after the first draft written in the moment.
