My BEST EVER protest sign, opposing the beer guzzler’s nomination.
In the confirmation hearing when Don McGahn seemed to be handling the nominee, and the nominee refused the hand of Fred Gutenberg, I KNEW the whole thing was fixed.

Cecilia is beautiful. I tired of clever dog names. One was Bos’n after Lord Byron’s Newfie. I chose the simple, short spelling. That lead to fifteen years of explanations. When I “rescued” Ricky I thought, “fine, Ricky is so easy.” Besides, his name was all he knew on the day we brought him home!

I vividly remember finding this book in my high school library. I read it; bought in, and at 28 had my tubes tied.
Before the procedure the doctor looked at me and asked my age. When I told him, he said simply, “You’re old enough.” I’m still grateful for his recognition of my personal autonomy.

I live in the part of Monterey CA that Steinbeck called Tortilla Flat. Breaking bottles was likely a part of the entertainment during that era -ask any gardener. This clear glass shard, with only the word FULL, is now a source of reflective word play.
Your insightful post made me “appreciativeful.”

Oops! It was fat tailed sheep that needed the carts.

“ACCORDING TO HERODOTUS, THE FIFTH-CENTURY “father of history,” travelers in Arabia would without a doubt encounter… sheep whose massive tails dragged on the ground… shepherds with carpentry skills built them supportive, wheeled carts.”
