Dad jokes and beer. Not neccesarily in that order.
First pour of the tripel. Jostled it a bit moving the keg, it should drop clear in a couple days. Notes of banana, clove, grapefruit rind, and citrus. A little alcohol warmth in the finish. Ended up at a final gravity of 1.005, but it doesn't seem to finish dry. 9.1% ABV.

I'm brewing a tripel today. Just mashed in and waiting on a friend to come over with his equipment. He's brewing a dubbel. Neither of us has brewed a Belgian beer before, we're both excited to brew!

Enjoyed a beer centric trip to The Great American Beer Fest. Made new friends, celebrated great beers, and walked A LOT.

Hot scotchy time!

Another brew day underway. Rebrewing my Irish Red for a friend, and I started a batch of pineapple cider for the wife.
I have some meads to bottle also, I'll share some pics when I get to that stage of the day!

A few weeks ago I shared my brew day. Here's the finished product, a wonderful dark mild. It's a malt forward beer with some hints of roast and toffee. Despite the dark color, it's light and refreshing. It came in at 3.9% making it an easy drinker!

Enjoying a hot scotchy while brewing a dark mild poolside.

Another great brew day. Today I was at OHSO where we scaled up my hazy IPA recipe. They really support homebrewers, and it's really exciting to know my beer will flow through their taps!
Look for Moisture Farmer in nearly August. Thanks to the Yeastie Boys brew crew for the fun!

My daughter brought home a 24oz jar of Mike's Hot Honey from work. Decided to make mead with it! Added another pound of wildflower honey for good measure, and 8 oz of Nesquick for a spicy chocolate mead. In a month or two I'll add a vanilla bean and maybe an oak spiral. I should get 1 gallon at 12%.

It's a beautiful day to brew a beer! Just mashed in a Kolsch recipe. This is the first batch where I milled my own grain. Hopefully I get good efficiency!

Brew day #3 (I think) this year. I was very lucky to be gifted a glycol chiller last year. Now that I've used it a few times in ales, I'm attempting a lager. Fermenting with 34/70 at 50f for a week before slowing ramping up a little to 55f for a bit. I'll let this take it's time before packaging.

Took a gravity reading today and it's done after just 3 days. Color isn't quite there, the photo doesn't really capture it well. Based on this sample it is pretty darn tasty!
Still have named it, but leaning towards "McTipsy's Irish Red". A close second is "Go Luck Yourself".

I was halfway through Nectrowave Haze before I thought to share how delicious is. I'll be taking a crowler to share with friends, if I can avoid temptation for a day or two.

Question for the homebrewerS... Do you enter competitions? What made you want to compete?

My main hobbies are cooking and homebrewing. Expect posts about both, along with a steady supply of stolen memes and dad jokes.
Tonight I made a pair of pumpkin pies. It smells amazing in here. They look great, but I think they'd look better with giant googly eyes.
