i always knew animals could not talk but it was not until i began living with a cat that i grasped that they still try to explain things

Trying to tell Mr. Fancy Cat that he had duck for lunch and therefore doesn't need the tuna that I'm having.

I'm personally just dying to know what @amycolleen.bsky.social thinks about the Netflix Pride & Prejudice casting. www.netflix.com/tudum/articl...
Best-Selling Author Dolly Alderton to Write Pride and Prejudice Six-Part Series
Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman will star in the new limited series adaptation.

Friday night grooving to the sound of his favorite person practicing her choral part.

New boy is home and is decompressing and doing some limited exploring. Resident girl is big mad at me for fussing over a strange cat in her house, but I hope they'll be friends eventually.

Indeed, cat adoption is much like online dating, but sometimes a match makes their case in no uncertain terms. Pending a vet check before he comes home, but here's his profile pic.

We're currently looking for a cat or cats to fill the vacancies left by our dear boys. Athena likes the extra attention, but she's bored and misses having other cats in the house. It's hard...trying to decide in a few minutes if you think a cat will fit in and you can promise to love them forever.

While I know the reasons for foster-based pet adoption, it's rough for an introvert to go to a stranger's home to meet a cat you've only seen in pictures. So much time, effort and pressure when we may take one look and say, "No, he's not for us."

I lost both these boys in the space of a week and a half. I miss them so much. Theo, the tabby, was almost 18 and probably had lymphoma. Siegfried, the lynx point, was only 12. He had a fast growing stomach tumor.
March 16, 2025 at 3:15 AM
This afternoon Theo will be leaving us to join eternity. He was an indoor/outdoor cat before he joined our family almost 15 years ago and today he had a last request. Sure thing buddy, you can touch grass again.
March 1, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Theo is in swift decline and tomorrow we'll see him on his way to eternity. We allowed him a little time on the deck this afternoon for a breath of false spring.

My old boy Theo isn't doing well. At almost 18 we are at the limit of what can be done. Whether for a year or a week, it's all end of life care. We just lost his younger sibling to cancer last week.

I need smiles today and imagine you do too.

I made the call this morning. Someone will come this afternoon to return Siegfried to the light from whence he came.
February 18, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Siegfried is getting weaker and more uncomfortable by the day, but he's still eating. I don't think he wants to leave us yet, but it's so hard to make that decision.

Lazy Caturday! (Because The Gang started campaigning for breakfast at 5 am.)
February 15, 2025 at 5:50 PM
A love story for Valentine's Day: In 2018 I went to the shelter for my volunteer shift and said, "No hurry, but we need a cat lively enough to play with the young cat and smart enough to leave the old cat in peace." When I saw Athena, I thought, "She'd be so easy." She was the cat we needed.
February 14, 2025 at 6:03 AM
Siegfried wasn't expected to live this long, but here he is. Weaker, but with an appetite and a desire for connection. Truly, one of the sweetest cats on the planet.

The year begins with this guy acting so determinedly normal that I could almost hope that the ultrasound that showed a huge tumor in his stomach was just a dreadful mistake.
January 2, 2025 at 2:25 AM
Not the merriest Christmas. Today our fears were confirmed, and we learned that this sweet cat, who only last month lost a leg to sarcoma, now has a large (likely unrelated)tumor in his stomach and will be leaving us soon.
