You know that last night, before leaving, I had a long telephone conversation with President Trump. I clearly explained our position to him.

I also reminded him of how Russia handled the Budapest Memorandum, where it had already made promises to Ukraine. Russia did not fulfill these guarantees.

And the security of all of Europe will depend on how this war ends. If Ukraine loses and perhaps collapses, it will affect all of European politics and the entire continent.

That is why we are so actively involved. If there is a chance to achieve peace, it will have consequences for all of Europe.
