I've done plenty of binocular shots like these in movies and TV shows. It is a perfect example of the difference between reality and cinematic reality. Although technically wrong, it is what the audience expects. Even Christopher Nolan did it in Dunkirk.

Still noodling around in 3D with the Tintin rocket. Thinking a super detailed cutaway model would be fun. Really embracing the 1940s/50s look of it in the books, making it as tactile and realistic as possible.

I released my AE script versionUp almost exactly 10 years ago! Still works in After Effects 2025, and I just fixed a small bug today. I hope some of you have found it useful over the years.
