It might even be species-specific, i guess. And since dormant organisms can still matter for biogeochemical fluxes, it could be interesting to define this niche more explicitly?
Probably something that would need a beer and a long chat to unpack — but really great perspective paper, again congrats!

I was actually thinking of a kind of "dormancy niche" that would define the limits within which dormancy is possible — with an upper boundary where organisms switch back to growth (realized niche), and a lower one approaching death or the limit of life.
