Quantitative ecologist working mostly on modeling populations and communities of plants and critters. Queer. He/him
Late to the party, but love the Stan forum's pride logo. Never been a better time to be a gay Bayesian statistician.

Defended my dissertation yesterday! The weight of it hasn’t totally sunk in yet, but I’m very proud and grateful for all the support I’ve received in my PhD from colleagues, friends, and family.

Quick bit of procrastination to make a cute lil' bifurcation diagram of a Ricker model in R. Colors represent different strengths of density-dependence.

What I do #3 [non-work edition]: I’m an amateur drummer! When I’m not modeling ecological processes, I drum to a variety of genres like prog rock, punk, and gay pop music. Sometimes I record myself on my electric set (video attached). Drumming really helps blow off steam from the academic grind.

What I do #2: A bit over a year ago, I started working with a fantastic team of ornithologists to evaluate the impacts of climate on bird demography. I’ve been able to leverage my Bayesian hierarchical models chops while learning about mark recapture modeling. [Simulation results attached].

Also posted on the other platform earlier, but thought folks here might also appreciate my Halloween costume this year: the poisson distribution

✨Introduction Post✨ Hiya folks. I'm Jeremy. I'm finishing up my Ph.D. at the University of Oregon. I'm passionate about using elegant and creative quant approaches to make inference about populations and communities. Details ⬇️, but I love Bayesian stats, ecological theory, gay stuff, & critters.
