If you don’t want people commenting on your wrong opinions don’t post in public forums. Bill gates and Microsoft are two different entities. Bill gates stopped running it 25 years ago. Any tax disputes ongoing happened after he left. He never avoided paying taxes. So yeah, you’re wrong. Cope

Also he has paid 18.5% in taxes which is a few percent lower than the average tax rate. But that small percent would not come close to what he’s giving away. So what you wrote was a not very well thought out critique of his generosity.

Do you have a point? Yes I’m American. Gates is giving 99% of his wealth away. Even still, where do you think all that tax money would go. Maybe he would fund the deportations or the increased defense spending with Trumps agenda, who shows every inclination to squander.

Congress provides checks and balances more so than the consolidated power of the executive branch in a shut down. You can argue that passing this bill bypasses that, but I would not put it past Trump to go above and beyond what Congress allows when he has the power to do so.

More than what Congress has allowed. They would get to selectively fund or shutdown whatever they want. Keep paying loyalists furlough dissenters etc. They’ll gladly keep it shutdown until dems cave, only a lot more damage will have occurred by then. Schumer took the option of causing less damage.
