“I’m calling the police! You’re being mean to me by playing music on a public street!” Filming without showing faces - until dude turns around to complain. Sir, if you can’t calmly ignore this, you absolutely shouldn’t carry a weapon.

Why are you pointing a weapon at a group of unarmed women conversing outside the building? Much less pulling the trigger? Agent training is a joke. People are getting hurt and there is no legal accountability - administrative, civil or criminal.

Peace and love to you. Materially and logistically, I’m sure it’s a lot harder. And, it’s all worth it for you and your children have a safe and nurturing home. You all deserve that!

@karenattiah.bsky.social I’m sorry you were fired. Your writing is clear-eyed and so important. WaPo doesn’t deserve you. I hope you and yours are safe and provided-for. I hope you will continue to use your voice for good.

This is my Sadie, being a bit derpy.

Hard agree. I’ve struggled with it (more on than off) for decades. I try to remember that I will feel better, if I can just keep making good decisions. And sometimes, any decision that doesn’t cost you your life is a good one. Wishing you the best.

The hospital I work at - a children’s hospital - recently installed metal detectors we all must pass through on the way to every shift. IT’S A CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL!!!

This ended darkly. As befits your chosen area of research. But still…

And a “local nerve block” is just an injection of local anesthetic around the nerve. It’s what they do before suturing lacerations and around incisions in the operating room, setting broken fingers and treating ingrown toenails. Very simple, routine, quick and hard to screw up.

That said, I’m a pediatrician. Take care of kids who have had heart surgery where they cut the sternum down the middle, splay it open, snap it back and wire it shut. I spend a lot of time treating pain.

I went to school for it. Your internist likely won’t be comfortable doing it. A good ER doc will. Or would consult anesthesia during your visit. We have a liposomal form of lidocaine now that lasts ~72 hours. Works like a charm.

Any NSAID, tylenol, ice, lidocaine patch. If you can’t sleep and take deep breaths, see a doctor. Local nerve blocks can do wonders if you’d like to avoid taking narcotics.

Ouch. If you have “crepitus”, ie crunchy feeling or noises when you move at all, see a doctor, it may need to be surgically stabilized. A simple fracture just needs pain control. 1/2

Which of us will step up to defend these brave protesters? Who will take their place in the Rotunda. We need hundreds, waiting in line for their turn to occupy the Capitol, protest and be arrested. Let them carry us out one by one, only to be replaced by the next in line. Flood the jails!

That was brutal. I shouldn’t have enjoyed it as much as I did. The announcers really roasted the new team members, who deserved every bit of it. I do so hate the Yankees.

There’s no excuse for the way most Dems fumble when asked to address any issue with moral clarity. Screw “the polling” and “the messaging” and show me your conscience. Don’t have one? You’re useless, let someone else lead.

Yes, that’s where my mind went first, too. What a sad reflection on the state of the world!

It’s a “dog trainer vest” for women, based on a brief internet search…designed with lots of pockets for treats, for those who are expert at obedience training.

Such a damned travesty and tragedy! For decades, jobs in the federal government have been the most available and stable for people of color: non-discrimination policies enforced, reasonable salaries, great health insurance and pension. Now, many of those jobs are for “regime collaborators”.

There are a lot of young women and men in this country who have strong voices and crystal clear views of what this nation does to people who are poor, black/brown, disabled, queer, or otherwise disadvantaged. We could have a Congress full of them if we choose.
