Honestly? That was one of the most memorable conversations I’ve had with a repairman. English can be so limiting.

My senior cat was sitting nearby, next to his dish. He looked at him and said “old?” I said “yeah. He’s 17.” He reached for his phone and showed me his beautiful black and white cat and a brand new gray kitten. He smiled proudly while I oohed and aahed. Then we paid our bill and he left.

He came to our house this morning and instantly fixed the problem. Then, he walked over to an old picture I had on the wall of our former house in DC, taken in the 1940s. For comparison, I showed him a pic of how the house looked in 2016. He pointed to an old car in the 1940s photo. We laughed.
