Disse endringene gjør skreien mer sårbar for ytterligere påvirkning og kan trolig knyttes til endringer i vandringsmønsteret til torsken i senere tid. Mao ja, vi påvirker våre fiskebestander kanskje mer enn vi aner …

If the observed alterations in genomic signal affect their long term resilience is up for debate … and e.g., linked to the past years shift in their distribution and where they spawn … this urge for higher awareness on how we exploit out stocks ‼️ @unioslo-cees.bsky.social @biovitenskap.bsky.social

Ecological modeling and adaptive genome-wide scans show that these shifts were coupled to intensified fishing pressure, reduced generation time, and the ongoing ocean warming ➡️ sparking earlier debates on how fisheries and other anthropogenic perturbations affect long-term genome-wide changes.

Our genome-wide retrospective characterization uncovered intensified directional gene from the non-migratory coastal cod in modern times (post millennium) ➡️ indicating increased hybridization events and/or survival of hybrids.
