Primary educators 👋🏻

I am interviewing teachers for a research project aimed at understanding how teachers learn from each other in the workplace. But my sample is currently very secondary heavy

Could you (please!) spare me an hour of your time this week or next? It will be interesting, I promise!

Really powerful blog from @emmaturner75.bsky.social. The term 'slides' has become synonymous with 'planning' in many settings and I regularly see teachers work through a set of slides to 'get through' the lesson, prioritising this over responding adaptively to the pupils in front of them.

Doubly excited for TDaPE Manchester next Saturday - looking forward to speaking about effective targeted questioning and to joining some of the other brilliant sessions on offer. Finding it hard to choose between them!

🧵An important part of the primary experience is having a lovely time- adults ringfencing the unique state of childhood and ensuring that primary is a glorious place to be little. Playful and joyful are not the antonyms of high standards and aspiration.

A great day of CPD led by @singhamarbeerg.bsky.social and @jensutherland.bsky.social; an opportunity to really reflect on how I present things, ask questions, model and expect our children to retain information.

Such a privilege to speak at the #TDaPELondon conference yesterday about effective targeted questioning and why lollypop sticks are not the answer to this. Hugely enjoyed talks from @dominicbristow.bsky.social, @mralmonded.bsky.social, @scottinghatt.bsky.social & @mradamkohlbeck.bsky.social too.

Really looking forward to speaking at #TDaPELondon next Saturday. I'll be exploring primary education's long-standing love affair with lollypop sticks for questioning and discussing why it may be finally time to step away from these for good. Can't wait to hear all the other speakers too.
