I mostly chose Mint as a very compact version to help my struggling machine last a little longer, but it is very Windows-like in interface. My only experience was with Ubuntu for work, and that was primarily on a Unix based server

I switched my ancient laptop to Linux Mint several years ago when Windows stopped supporting Windows 8.
