Many years ago in Shreveport (far north Louisiana next to the AK line) ate at a Chinese restaurant where they brought us a stack of sliced white bread.

We expressed surprise and the server replied "well, a lot of people here don't consider it a meal unless there's bread on the table".

Less than zero sympathy (retired infection control nurse here.)

You definitely had to have been there to chuckle at this!

Ugh ugh ugh hate it. But I was an adult when it came out in the early 70s. Way overkill but the worst was the part about the levee being dry.

That is the whole point of levees. To keep the water back.

Ugh.

How absolutely horrifying.

I'm still goggling. I never did work in reproductive nursing and have been retired for 4 years, but damn.

Well crap. I learned something today.

Wait a minute--what I'm reading here is claiming that evacuation of placental tissue after a live birth is considered an "abortion". In 42 years of being an RN I never encountered that terminology.

It's SO efficient to destroy things then try to put them back together when you realize that OOOPS! dang I needed that.

Assholes

It took them all fucking long enough. Guess they've got nothing to lose now eh?

So quit already.

She might hurt the owange one's fee-fees

Nope. 43 years together and husband and I have never had a TV in the bedroom. No conflict, we both just never even considered it. We like to read in bed. To each their own.

I LOVE it. Wish we could have it all year round. 4:30 darkness is ridiculous. I don't care if the mornings are darker.

As someone who worked in Infection Control and Epidemiology for 18 years, this makes my heart hurt.

Sorry cher. Born and raised there, grew up in Baton Rouge with relatives north and south. I couldn't leave fast enough except for the years 1972-1979 when I was back. Love my family that's still there, love the food, hate everything else. Except maybe azaleas.
February 19, 2025 at 6:17 AM
That seems to be a universal law.
February 18, 2025 at 6:09 AM
Maybe you could turn the tide? But I'm so sorry.

If I wasn't 71 and retired I'd think about it. I still have nightmares about night shift in the ICU though, so, I'll stay here. We NEVER seem to lose our fear about finishing charting, that's all I'll say.
