It depends on the country. The US has tax treaties in place with many countries, but not all. In those cases, you pay the difference. Correct. You must renounce your citizenship to avoid paying US taxes. Also, as long as you’re a citizen, the US gov’t can access your bank accounts. Citizenship for most countries takes years to achieve. If you qualify by ancestry, great. Many Americans are mutts whose ancestors immigrated long ago.
