Plus, some names differ in gender depending on language. Jan tends to be short for Janet and thus female in English, but it’s male in German and Dutch. Simone and Andrea are male in Italian. Kim can be male, female, or a last name etc

I don’t mind them skipping over building all the realms they will obviously have to build and simply introducing us to, say, a nearly finished Rivendell. I’m dreading them skipping over years of character development like House of the Dragon did. I hope they won’t recast characters either.

Trademarks and copyright work differently, and you don’t automatically have the trademark to a word you created. The Tolkien estate would have needed to trademark “Sauron” specifically for use in the field of security to stop these guys from using it.
