The problem with coming up with a better system is that it’s very hard to design a private health system that is financially rewarded to keep people healthy. The only way I see is to make it closed where the payor owns the delivery system. We’d have to tear everything down and build it back up.

I like this part. Being paid per transaction processed seems like a good way to short circuit the current financial reward system.

Some don’t want to hear terminal but some don’t know how to say it. I saw an oncologist say “treatment” and the patient’s mom understood “cure”.

It’s definitely another facet to this clusterf*. It makes me wonder if he was referred and if so, who did the “investigation”. I hope many people see repercussions for allowing this criminal to keep seeing patients.

It’s really well written and researched. It also highlights the difficulty of holding the powerful accountable. How did CMS and the DEA miss this for so long? And was he ever reported to the medical board?
