This is a great read which takes you through all the struggles that people went through to put food on the table. It is excellent on Fishing, Alewives, GMOs, and allotments. It is sadly lacking in any post-colonial perspective. Not a hint of an Gorta Mór. (But maybe that wasn’t worth fighting for).
