Our family is very fond of fresh cranberry orange relish. One navel orange + 12-16 oz fresh cranberries + sugar to taste. Chop in food processor to desired chunkiness. Best made ahead but good even right away

And there are so many other reasons to grow fennel! My household doesn’t like it either but we grow it for the pollinators and birds. Plus pretty feathery foliage and it can make a good screen. It is both a perennial and prolific reseeder here in Seattle but easy to pull out any strays

Periwinkle (Vinca minor) might be a good choice. Look for a variety that fills in well - some are very leggy and good for e.g. hanging pots but not for groundcover

Fennel grows vigorously anywhere, is perennial *and* self seeds but easy to weed out extras, has pretty feathery foliage & no pests. Pollen feeds crowds of pollinators, seeds feed birds in fall/winter. Bushtits love it. Plus fennel bulbs to eat if you like that licorice flavor
