Thank you to all of the Veterans. It’s a complex idea…feeling….to want to serve your country and to want to be a part of something bigger than yourself…but to also not agree with the places you are sent, oftentimes for reasons unknown. I have loved and admired so many fellow Soldiers.

I painted a room in our home, so I made myself some art to go with it. This is a cicada shell, around 3 feet tall. And, Danny DeVito as Frank Reynolds in season 4, episode 7 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, titled, “Who Pooped The Bed.” The cicada is acrylic. Danny DeVito is gouache on pine.

This is Robert Smalls. He is an American hero. He stole a confederate boat and sailed to freedom. He became a Congressman. I had to paint him.
