Just before this photo, this Red-Shouldered Hawk crashed onto the trail right in front of us in pursuit of… something. Alas, they did not catch whatever they were after and flew back into the trees. The entire time I just stood unmoving like 😳😍. #redshoulderedhawk #hawk #birdphotography #raptor

Saw a bird I like very much. Got excited said bird was flying so close to me. Wasn’t watching where I was walking. Tripped. Fell. Skinned my knees. And maybe hurt my camera. I can’t have nice things. Or knees. I know the Harrier was laughing at me. I could feel it. 😂😭

Just a snowy egret because the ol’ brain is going a mile a minute and I needed to shut it up with going through bird photos. But it’s never “just” a snowy egret I suppose… they’re always pretty fabulous, aren’t they? ❤️

I woke up at 4am yesterday and spent the day walking a total of 16 miles at various birding spots I enjoy. I wasn’t supposed to look at the news all day, but how do you not? And each time, it got worse and worse. I keep rotating from fear to anger to sadness.

Visited Valhalla Cemetery yesterday for the first time since the winds. So many trees fell… including the big stone pines where I’m pretty sure the Great Horned Owls nested. I haven’t seen the Red-Tail pair since all that went down either. But, the Vermilion Flycatchers were reliable as always.

My guy Havoc hasn’t been feeling well. I was going to give all that story here and that’s when I discovered that Bluesky has a character limit. I ramble. I hate character limits. It’s why I never got into Twitter. Ah well. Gonna try to edit some bird photos today. I’ll post those. Less words.
