The government wants us to recognize Charlie Kirk today. But, today is George Floyd’s 52nd birthday. And, the genocide in Palestine continues after two years.

We have our own people to mourn.

Universities like UT Austin have shown that they will place ideology and political power ahead of the most vulnerable students, faculty, and staff they serve.

Fight against the closure of Black, Latino, and Gender Studies at UT Austin. Support our students.

I'm excited to be back in the world talking to readers about my book BLACK WOMEN TAUGHT US with the Dayton Metro Library on Nov 6 at 6pm ET.

This event aligns with Shirley Chisholm becoming the first Black woman elected to Congress in Nov 1968.

The Vice President of the United States used his social media page to tell Joy Reid, a private citizen with no connection to the government, that she should express "gratitude" for how this country has treated her.

Black women remain the most consistent targets in all of this.

Timeline cleanse: Domino Dejanee Jackson is still making sure I'm safe and resting.

Guess what? For the first time since surgery, I sat down at a restaurant and celebrated with my family. My beloved daughter is turning 14 years old and I'm turning 41 in a few days.

I'm so so grateful for this healing. It was hard and I am now heading straight home to lie down.

Y'all Y'all Y'all! I WALKED outside today and put my feet in grass for the first time since surgery. I'm sitting on my front porch crying right now from joy ❤️‍🩹

In case y'all were wondering, yes, Domino Dejanee Jackson has had her eyes on me the entire recovery process. She's my nurse on-call.

I rode in a car (comfortably) for the first time today since my open-heart surgery. I finally got to see my neighborhood and broader community! Healing is happening ❤️‍🩹

Governor Wes Moore welcomed me to Maryland. I'm never leaving, lol.

I'm so excited to see that my newest article is up at @pspolisci.bsky.social as FirstView!

In it, I critique the use of survey methods in the study of multiply marginalized communities. I also provide three recommendations for political scientists who study these groups.

Audre Lorde once wrote, "I am deliberate and afraid of nothing." I will admit, I am afraid as I head into the most difficult surgery of my life. Yet, I am deliberate. I believe in my body and in my will to exist. Today is the day 💜

Cis women: when we tell y'all that your transphobia harms you, too, this is what we mean.

My 11yo son came downstairs and asked me why his deodorant says it "contains odor-fighting 'atomic robots' that 'shoot lasers' at your 'stench monsters' and replaces them with fresh clean, masculine 'scent elves'."

Men are not okay.

This #LesbianVisibilityWeek, I want to share my story/evolution as a Black queer. Too often, we face binaries (straight/gay, masc/fem, cis/trans, etc.) that don't tell the full story of Blackness and queerness in this anti-Black world.

I'm elated to announce that my book BLACK WOMEN TAUGHT US is a finalist for the PEN America Open Book Award.

I can't explain what it means to be selected for this award by my peers.

I'm sitting with this recognition. I'm honored to tell the stories of everyday Black women and their feminisms.
