Definitely been the year of plants hitting their stride in my yard. This one, a snowberry bush variant “Coral Berry” started as a twig three years ago, was pretty sure was smothered to death by leaves and the grass I hadn’t removed and yet this year grew to two by three feet & produced berries.

Finally getting back to quick mini paintings with fountain pen inks, seeing how many colors can be coaxed out of one ink with washes and bleach.

For this odd owl I used Octopus Fluid's "Gryphon" a medium to dark brown when writing, depending on the paper. Chromatography notes in the alt text.

The spouse, carrying the usually fecklees husky, Shawn, past the fenced front yard of a elderly large black shepherd dog who is also tethered.

I will concede the fenced dog—though friendly—has a deep bark and sounds like he has a 3 pack a day habit…

Another plant in my yard that wanted to settle in for a year or two before truly producing is this Bear Breeches, which had the decency to produce an off-shoot in the meantime, giving me two towers of blooms.

Not sure this was the intended way to display this piece but I sure do like it.

Hey, some of those seeds I scattered in autumn delivered! In this case, Orlaya “White Finch.”

Rewarding as this is my first foray in growing flowers from seed, Except for poppies, none of which deigned to show this year.
