Students were in love with @erinentrada during #AuthorStudy, hosted by @kwamealexander and @onewordorg! Writing tips, laughter, and a peek at THE LAST RESORT, a book you can read AND scan pages to talk to ghosts! Amazing event! #AuthorStudy #MiddleSchool #ReadingTeacherWrites #OneWordCommunity

So…we don’t want kings. But I don’t want representatives, senators, and Supreme Court justices who ignore the people and the Constitution, either. This bipartisan bickering must end. What can we do? We can VOTE. We can boycott. We can refuse to back down. #NoKings #WeThePeople #TheConstitution

I talked about banned books today with classes in the library. Students rolled their eyes and gave me “looks.” The DICTIONARY? CATS? (What’s wrong with a book about cats?) Kids know that banning books is ridiculous. Kids WANT to read. #BannedBooksWeek #IReadBannedBooks #ReadingTeacherWrites

I love sharing titles with my students! @joellenmccarthy.bsky.social & Julia Torres recommend books in Seasons of Literacy. October is an interesting month for the school library: Hispanic Heritage Month, Halloween, Day of the Dead, Banned Books Week…#LibrariesTransform #ReadingTeacherWrites

Literacy isn’t just about books. Games and puzzles help students learn to speak and listen, too. I had fun watching 7th graders interact with each other today in the library. (They even cleaned up nicely when they were done!) #LibrariesTransform #MiddleSchool #ReadingTeacherWrites #LiteracyLearning

I think every librarian MUST make time to attend the National Book Festival. Talk about book joy! Talk about meeting favorite authors! Talk about scheduling next year’s trip! #AuthorFriendsRock #ReadingTeacherWrites #NationalBookFestival #LibraryOfCongress

It was a celebration of poetry, joy, and a life lived well. Kwame Alexander and Renee Watson shared memories and read poems from THE NEW BOOK. It was nice to gather and share the love. Thanks to Solid State Books for hosting the event. #ReadingTeacherWrites #Poetry #BlackPoets #NikkiGiovanni

The remodel is done and all the books are on the shelves! Welcome to the library! I saw 7th grade classes and the students said they don’t see much of a difference. Ah, kids! It’s big, beautiful, and clean! Let’s read! #SchoolLibrary #ReadingTime #Libraries #LetThemRead #ReadingTeacherWrites

One of my favorite things to do is gather books/resources for teachers for units of study, read alouds, and curating back-to-school books while also meeting state standards. There are SO MANY ideas in my head right now! #ReadingTeacherWrites #BackToSchool #PictureBooksArePerfectForMiddleSchool

Reading this adult debut novel while it’s raining. TILT by Emma Pattee (Marysue Rucci Books, 2025). “Annie is nine months pregnant. She’s shopping for a crib at IKEA. That’s when the massive earthquake hits.” I’ll probably finish this book tonight. #Reading #ReadingTeacherWrites #SummerReading
