On the coldest day in January, I’m greeted by beauty born of hope and reciprocal care, gifted by this moth orchid—a friend revealing the audaciousness of deep magenta, which has been a secret held close since last blooming only white petals years ago.

On the coldest day in January, I’m greeted by beauty born of hope and reciprocal care, gifted by this moth orchid—a friend revealing the audaciousness of deep magenta, which has been a secret held close since last blooming only white petals years ago.
This week I received a handwritten note in the mail from a stranger admiring what I’m up to in the studio. Being visible in creative experimentation—even when it’s awkward—is the scariest and best way to cultivate community while living in such an increasingly disconnected and inhumane world.
