Seriously dreaming of an alternate life in which I had a spare month and 8000+ euros to enroll in Herzog’s filmmaking workshop in the Azores.

The White House movie theater over the years. In the East Wing, demolition imminent. The first film screened there was D. W. Griffith's racist epic Birth of a Nation in 1915. Jimmy Carter watched 480 films there, the most of any president: letterboxd.com/jfrankenstei...

The dispassionate notices seem fine and the blamey ones seem likely to backfire?

Yosemite Valley, Yosemite Falls, Moonlight Effect, no date (1890-1935).

They are filming the sequel for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in our neighborhood every night this week, so I stopped by the set to take a look. Impressive level of 1977 detail work here, down to the staged phone booth and fake band flyers.

Finally saw The Eyes of Laura Mars today, fun to watch & laugh with a crowd at Vidiots.

Lots to love (costumes & camera) even if it doesn’t really work.
And those flaming cars…homage to Godard?
