She/her. D’92, 25+ years academic IT -> F.A. Helping myself and other retire. Experimental cook, gardener, forager, goat wrangler. About to be a Meme for the first time! My family is know to adopt new members (aka the friendly borg).
Confession to being on the other side of an incident- I still dread someone digging up a polyester skirt with a big melted spot that SOMEONE buried in my mom’s back yard after making a campfire. Is 40-ish years a proper statute of limitations?

For the last 20+ years we have removed the rib cage from our turkey and tied it in a roll either around stuffing or onions and herbs. This year we removed the legs and wings and made confit (olive oil, garlic, rosemary &thyme) the remainder of the boneless bird was rolled and smoked over fruitwood.

We had the most fun planting a variety of colors - white, purple, orange, and the romanesco green. I can’t recall the catalog or specific varieties. I do remember learning about spring vs fall varieties.

I was so shocked at the time - we were practically birthday buddies and I’m not sure why that makes it hurt more. I also lost a cousin who was like a brother, we shared a birthday (Nov 4th) and it makes this season of remembrance more poignant.
