Wife, mother of five, math geek, lifelong learner, Badger fan. Mathematics & Science curriculum coordinator.
Our local team are the Kingfish. This weekend they will be masquerading as the Bombers (as in meatball bomber). They have also played as the Kenosha Kickers, an homage to John Candy’s polka band in Home Alone.

Surveys like this are high on my irk list. They assume a universal understanding of "8th grade algebra" or the content of a course called "Algebra 1". Do I think all 8th graders should learn algebra in 8th grade? Yes, because I believe all kids need access to grade level math.

It’s been a bit since I’ve ranted about online geometry homework.

Rt. Triangle trig was one of my favorite units to teach in Geometry. I mean, my license plate is literally SOCATOA. It’s beautiful math that is the foundation for even more beautiful math. Or it can be this #MTBoS #iTeachMath

Comment from @chaseorton.bsky.social that has my wheels turning as a math leader. How do we help teachers experience flow in their work with students? I know there are lot of conditions in schools that contribute to burnout, but is lack of flow one of them? #MPES23 #wismath #iTeachMath

I’m so happy I got to share this experience with him and am excited to see what his future as a math educator holds. Listening to him speak from his heart about his k-12 math experience blew me away.

Inspired by his experience as a student ambassador at last year’s conference, he developed and submitted a proposal for a session, Building Math Identity: A Student’s Perspective. He interviewed over 100 students in his school about their math experience.
