I don’t use cash now but when I did - I knew how to work out the change by counting upwards eg $18.25 5c makes 30, 20c makes 50, etc & sometimes would give coins to make the change ‘easier’ eg item cost $18.25. I give $20.25 so I’ll get a neat $2 change. Sadly that confused many retail workers

I just read it as Protestant & thought of my Irish ancestors who actively renounced their Catholicism so they could attempt (unsuccessfully) to claim a Viscountcy 🤣
