I picked up this memoir at my neighbor’s LFL and I’m loving it. A real look into how childhood trauma influences adult relationships. Heartbreaking. #booksky 💙📚

We just moved to a house with a huge lawn and this is what I want to do! I am not a gardener and have no clue where to start but I know we’re gonna have to pay someone 😩

This is Baby. Baby loves to get into this window even though he knows he isn’t allowed because he digs in the plants. His brother Sporty does it too but is a bit cleverer when he hears me coming into the kitchen.

Boy, Flappy, I think you need to get comfortable for a change!

Sporty, keeping my husband company as he works 💙

Quite honestly, my cats are just about the only thing that distracts from the smothering blanket of existential dread I feel every day.

This is my sweet Flappy. My bestie is taking care of my cats this week while we’re away and she went a bit overboard with the catnip. My husband loves to call him Crazy Eyes and I always tell him to stop—but honestly, this pic makes it tough!

When you’re on a trip and your bestie is watching your beloved cats, post them on social media for everyone to admire.

Baby playing tug o’war with my daughter gave me a good laugh. He’s determined to drag that bird away!

I probably should have gone to Lowe’s for more white paint before I started the closet doors. WithThanksgiving this week and a weeklong trip following, we’re gonna have a weird bedroom for two weeks!

This is Flappy, my first foster fail. He came from a hoarding house, spending his first year in a cage—lonely, dirty, and half starved. He came to us in April and is a sweet, cuddly boy who gets along with my other cats and is finally learning how to purr. He doesn’t meow at all. I adore him!

Can you see three cats inside?

Figgy does something I’ve never had a cat do—when I carry her somewhere, she flexes her back feet in my hand. Imagine how a cat makes biscuits, but with her hind feet. It’s very cute.

Every morning after breakfast, the cats get the zoomies. I wish I’d had the camera out to capture the unhinged way Baby runs at the cat tree and climbs the scratching pole, hugging it with all four paws and scooching up—but double time. It’s hilarious.

We made the decision that Baby and Sporty are part of the family yesterday. This ends my ability to foster any more, because we have five cats now. I’ll help the rescue in other ways. In these dark times, my cats make me laugh when nothing else does.

And here’s Lulu perched on the furry pillow. (Any advice for posting a video plus a photo? Blue Sky is weird about videos—I don’t see my whole photo roll; I have to go to videos and then it wouldn’t let me select a photo as well. Hmph)

Lulu is obsessed with this pillow. First she prepares it, then she settles onto it—somehow I’m always surprised to see her sitting on it; you’d think she’d prefer a larger one.

Baby and Sporty are quite identical (Sporty is bigger but since they’re always moving it’s hard to tell.) Baby has always worn a blue collar, but his little kitten collar was getting too tight, so today I got him a big boy pride collar with a tiny bow tie. He’s so handsome! 💙

Today we got a new toy and Baby wasn’t interested in sharing. Gotta work on that.

Every morning the cats gather to watch the birds, but for the first time one of them has braved the bowl feature! To my surprise, it was Lulu.

Sporty and Baby Spice came to me in August as “spicy” girls—well, they’re boys and totally no longer spicy! Playful, sweet fluffballs, they’re identical so Baby wears a blue collar. Technically still up for adoption, they’re about to end my foster career as I don’t see how I could let them go.
November 16, 2024 at 3:08 PM
Next up is Lulu. My second foster fail, she came to us because her family was “tired of having a cat,” which broke my heart. She immediately adopted the kittens and is sweet and loving—we couldn’t let her think another family dumped her! Originally called Luna Mae, we decided that was too much.

This gorgeous goofball is Flappy. He’s my first foster cat, from a hoarding situation in April. He’s also my first foster fail—I couldn’t bear the thought of sending him away. He’s a cuddly sweetheart but never learned to purr or meow, but when he’s very happy, you can feel faint vibrations.
