Genderqueer parent and community college STEP coach. I also wrote Forgotten All-Star: A Biography of Gardner Fox! My next big project is a biography for Jerry Bails, who is often referred to as the father of comic book fandom.
Gardner Fox was playing with the idea of multiple Earths going all the way back to his first short story, “Weirds of the Woodcarver,” from 1944's Weird Tales volume 38 number 1.

This month's "Books With Pals" is on Absolute Wonder Woman and I am so glad I finally gave it a try. I wasn't interested in the premise because I didn't want a hard-core, sword-wielding Wonder Woman, but that was a misjudgment. Y'all were right to give it so much praise.

I went with Loki for my work Halloween costume again.

I am sure they were going for Skeleton Captain America fighting skeleton Black Panther, but it looks a lot more like Cap is giving Black Panther a lap dance to me. 😂 🤷

Such a fun read.

These are good things to include regardless! Not every kid is super into candy, but they still want to go trick-or-treating. My oldest was always more excited about scoring snacks, like a box of raisins or a bag of nuts. And last year, putting potatoes in the bucket was a lot of fun! 🥔

If the federal shutdown continues, 42 million Americans will not receive new SNAP benefits after October 31st. It is anticipated full benefits will be issued as quickly as possible once federal operations resume.

My youngest son decided to be a Charlie Brown ghost with a rock in his bucket one year. We had a lot of fun cutting out and saftey pinning on all the “holes.”
😂❤️

Always a fascinating subject! I still prefer the analog approach because it allows me to track/follow my train of thought more effectively.

*Spoilers for The Fantastic Four: First Steps in image of notes.*

One of those old pulps with a little bit of foxing that you find in a stack on the floor of an old used book store. Richard Fowlks did a great job of invoking that with the cover. 📚

The Comic Arts Festival of Eugene was great! I was super happy to learn that David Walker is a Wolverine and Cyclops shipper. And Chris Roethle's Comics and Poetry Workshop was so much fun! I hope it becomes an annual thing!

One of my partners was recently moved to a new job location and he quickly learned there was a comic guy there because his collection had spilled out into the break area. My partner was caught sending me some vetting pics and, turns out, we have a friend in common. Of course we do. 😂👍

Loved getting to attend this event. I very much appreciate the comics community here. This is the panel that stuck out most in my reread. Such a pertinent message for the times we are in…

Waiting in the car for my youngest to get out of therapy and rereading All-Star Superman for a local “books with pals” event. I am struck by just how much Gunn really did use this as a template in ways I wasn’t thinking about when I first heard that.

#Batmanday is a great day to learn about Batman's formative creators beyond Bill Finger and Bob Kane. Jerry Robinson, Sheldon Moldoff, and, obviously, Gardner Fox all deserve shoutouts. Fox gave Batman his utility belt and batarang in the Golden Age, and then co-created the Silver Age Batgirl! Etc!

I moved to an area where there are nutria. When they were first described to me, I immediately thought, rodents of unusual size are real?!?

Campus was closed this morning due to unrelated police activity, so I got to enjoy some lunch time reading before heading into work. The format of The Comics Courier is such a great choice. I hope we see many more issues. 😍

The funniest episode of First Wave, by far, was because of Graham Greene. Knowing our hero, Cade Foster, breaks into something in almost every episode, I about died during this whole scene. Greene's facial expressions and line delivery were perfection. 😂

The group agreed Fillion’s Guy Gardner was the standout. My youngest played Green Lantern more than any other hero growing up and it was nice to see him so excited talking about the possibilities those powers represent. 🧤

Fun fact: Guy Gardner was named after Guy Lillian and Gardner Fox!

My youngest wanted to watch Avengers: Infinity War with some friends for his birthday and his best friend lost it at the Captain Marvel teaser. He jumped up and cheered before excitedly explaining all the reasons everybody should be just as excited when he realized not everybody knew of her.

😂❤️
