Rules of Observation: Power thrives in silence—once you see the patterns, you can’t unsee them, and once you name them, you become dangerous.

Clap for me and my pathological demand avoidant soul.

I called for my refills.

Made an appointment for HRT.
Sent in my receipts to be reimbursed for therapy.
Watered my plants.
Took a walk in the woods.
Made a Discord.

Wisdom from my diary on writing:
If you're letting go of 'my ideas don't matter,' then dreaming something into existence is exactly how you claim the opposite: "My ideas create worlds."
Now, go create my little honey bees. Your words matter.

I’m a theologian who never plan to be one. Turns out helping women and queers recover their voices after religious trauma makes you one by default.

if your deconstructing, but still crave the sacred, you’re not broken. Your bridge between two worlds, and that’s exactly where the magic happens.

Émile Durkheim taught about what happens to society when norms break down. The video ends with a hopeful message.

Musk wants the US to leave NATO?!? Absolutely the f*ck not.

My dad died 26 years ago today from metastatic melanoma at the age of 50.

I have a top of head to top of thigh PET scan scheduled for my 51st birthday to investigate lung nodules, weight loss and night sweats.

Insurance denied the PET scan but this clearly shows I need follow up, no?

My ghost trees.

We planted the beginnings of our fruit orchard last fall. These little ones aren’t strong enough for sub freezing temps so we have to cover them with hopes they will survive.

Once they’re established they can handle the freezing temps. For now, they entertain.

I’m not exactly sure.

Heterophile Ab was positive. A rare outcome of Rituxan infusions can be reactivation of EBV and hepatitis.

It could be false positive for lymphoma which frankly matches my symptoms and labs so I guess that’s a discussion I need to have.

Anyone else mentally tired today?

Late-stage capitalism and unfolding authoritarianism in the United States makes it really hard to hang onto the tiny thread of stability that keeps my mental health in check.

Writing helps get me through the dread. Maybe this prompt will help you too.

This morning I got a text from him asking for my cinnamon roll and chocolate chip cookie recipes.

Now this might not seem a big deal to you but this melted my mother heart.

Some of our most cherished memories were made standing together measuring ingredients or rolling out dough.

This is a win

I’m the epitome of glamour this Sunday afternoon and for the most banal reason. Two hours and counting nose bleed with major clotting.

Of course it slowed and resolved mostly in its own once admitted to the ER. But WTF? Noses shouldn’t bleed for 2 hours, right?

The real life changing relief would have been holding the insurrectionists to the 14th amendment of the constitution. You know, to do their job of protecting and upholding the constitution?

But what do I know? Rewarding criminals is now the law of the land, no?

Something you should know about me is that I love finding mushrooms on my property and photographing them.

Because I live with myasthenia gravis my eyes don’t focus as well as they used to. Double vision is common so photographs help me see the small world better.

I’m outside readying the ferns for a winter inside.

Birds dart across the garden, a crow soars overhead, Indigo Girls on Spotify, as the sun sinks lower through the sparse cover of trees, casting its golden hazy light on the mountain in the distance.

This is how I’ll get through the days ahead.

An essential read:

On Tyranny

A very easy read outlining 20 lessons for authoritarian regimes.

In case you want some insight about what to keep in mind going forward.

Lessons in Chemistry on
🍎tv is brilliant! The opening credits couldn’t be more perfect. Watching them again on the second episode confirmed their perfection.

I got all my thoughts on talk-to-text so it’ll be easy to dive into writing up tomorrow!
