Find shade and take breaks when you can. Take lots of pics/video of your 8 year old being a kid at Disney. They'll be a teenager and then an adult in the blink of an eye. Enjoy it all.

It always seems hotter at Disneyland, so I learned the hard way to take a break around 3 to 5 at the hotel to shower and rest. It helps a lot. Drink lots of water or hydrating drinks. Eat healthy snacks so that all the delicious, unhealthy food you may eat there doesn't drain your energy quickly.
