North Carolina novelist writing place-driven, character-first fiction. My work features truth, consequences, and second chances. Also writes fan fiction as Cat Lady Firebird. https://JennieStThomas.com
I also stop and reverse-outline at the end of every act since I have never ONCE had a story stick to the outline completely. Then I will massage the next act's outline beats to make everything coherent. Slows me down? Yes. Means fewer drafts? Also yes.

I should add here that I am a #planner and that my outlines go through LOTS of revisions. By the time I start writing I've already done a lot of the work that others might do at the editing stage.

Yes, and it can be annoying when process varies per project -- but you know what? I think that's just an indicator that your projects are not carbon copies of each other. :)

I can talk about all of them for hours. :) Right now I'm actively drafting "All That Mattered" (and "Fading Horizon" when I need a break) so it's foremost in my head, but any of them -- including ones not on this list -- can get me talking to the point where you have to end up shutting me up. :-)

Very well, actually, and there's a small but active fandom.

I'm one of that weird group of #WriteSky folk who don't identify themselves in terms of whatever marginalized identities apply. I have a couple (nearly everyone does) but truth be told, I'm just here to write. And if I can reach out and touch a single person, I will have succeeded.
