Well I quite liked this exhibit

I didn't suffer too badly today, crabbing/fishing with this view. (Although I am laughing at catching a couple fish in my crab nets for the first time ever. They were bigger than most of the crab!)

I was trying to keep my spending down this month. Then I saw this, and really, isn't it more important to support small businesses and creators in these trying times? It would be wrong of me NOT to buy it.

Happy Halloween from me and my greatest creation: Imogene the haunted doll lamp! (I got her a new outfit for the occasion, like a perfectly normal person. Wait until Thanksgiving rolls around)

I was not expecting a trombone to make an appearance.

Going back to real life seems somewhat unfair!

If Garbage was the soundtrack to my life starting as a teenager, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has been the soundtrack to the last 18 years in San Francisco. The show was fantastic, as usual. (Shout-out to the vast majority of the audience being shorter than me; I appreciated the view.)

Shirley Manson, you are EVERYTHING. What a fucking icon.

It's hard to believe I've been listening to Garbage for almost 30 years, since I was an angsty 12 year old, but I will never forget listening to the self-titled album while writing vampire stories in a college-ruled notebook and driving through Georgia forests going to visit dead people.

Quite a turnout! We have truly earned a post-protest beer.

🎵 Protests for justice and mocking the fascists
Tarot and kidlit and joining the masses
The bill of rights and freedom that rings
These are a few of my favorite things 🎵

I opened my door to check the mail and found three silent crows (including Jason Crowmoa) standing there, waiting. This is somehow more unnerving than when they make me worry they're close to understanding how the doorbell works. Did they know I was hard-cooking eggs for them?

There were no crows around. I whistled the "hey I've got food" whistle I've been training them to recognize. I started to go back inside, figuring they were too far away, but, well:

Hello from war-ravaged, Very Unsafe San Francisco, where I saw Roseanne Cash sing Seven Year Ache (😭) for free. Hard out here in the trenches, where I was forced to behold the most offensive mullet I've ever seen. I may never recover.

I got to see my friend who teaches child cast members on touring musicals, and now several of my clients' books are on tour with Les Miserables! (Who knew the amenities in war-torn San Francisco would be so remarkable?)

Yesterday on As the Crow Flies: a murder investigation. Not pictured: the pair of ravens who showed up, whose idea of acting casual was to hop sideways toward the egg until the crows protested.

Ericaw Kane checking out her next husband:

*As the Crow Flies theme music intensifies* Cawbert Smith takes control of the food situation while Jason Crowmoa is away. Will Ericaw Kane join Cawbert for a sunset dinner al fresco?

I just wanted a notebook to carry in my purse. This is a lot of pressure

I am bunny sitting and got a good review

Tried my hand at baking sourdough sandwich rolls so I can have patriotic, anti-fascist meals. Are they pretty? No. Are they airy, yet have enough heft to make a delicious statement? Yes.

Happy world cross-stitch day! Here's what I'm currently stabbing in my spare time. Pattern by WitchyStitcher on Etsy, supplies from 123stitch.com (I will never again have to dig through the thread at Michael's, only to find 2 of 22 colors I need, what a magical site):

I was doing a little market research and the category for this book made me laugh for about a minute straight:

Bookstore drag show @booksmith.bsky.social! Nothing could delight me more than book-themed drag at the store where I used to work 🤩 (We stood in the children's section, natch.)

It's going to be a regular thing, so come out come out!

I have so many questions, too! The catfish was 200 pounds, so I guess that leaves plenty of room for 120 filets. I don't know what angered the catfish, but the memes are awesome. (Wels = catfish, menschenjäger = manhunter)
