Literally the start of episode 1 of The Handmaid's Tale

I understand confirmation bias, but in some of these cases the adults aren't touching the children, or are in other rooms entirely. The parents of the autistic children were very hurt that people think that they're controlling their childrens' communication, so I'm curious...

I thought it must be non verbal cues, & knowing loved ones behaviours & predictable patterns... but how can a child know (e.g) what's in a text message received by their teacher without having seen the message? (As happened in the podcast), or know what number is randomly being generated? Curious!
