Decoherence Media reached out to Alisher Mukhitdinov and Gabriel Sohier-Chaput for comment, but our inquiries went unanswered.

As far as Soshnikov can tell from leaked personal databases, “Mukhitdinov still lives in Moscow. I think he made almost every possible effort to make it impossible to trace him.”

Andrei Soshnikov, editor-in-chief at Systema (RFE/RL’s Russian Investigative Unit), wrote a 2020 article revealing the identity of Mukhitdinov. He told me in a telephone interview that: "we cannot claim that Mukhitdinov's de-anonymization was without consequences . . . "

Gabriel Sohier-Chaput was sentenced in September 2023 to 15 months in prison for promoting hatred against Jewish people. Alisher Mukhitdinov seems to have stepped back from online far-right communities since Iron March went down in 2017.

Most visitors to Rope Culture were from White-majority regions like the US, Canada, Europe & Australia. Though starting out w/a majority of visitors coming from Eastern Europe in December 2015, visitors from North America quickly grew, making up an absolute majority.

Rope Culture's Head Editor was a Canadian named Gabriel Sohier-Chaput, a now 38-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, who is most known by the alias "Zeiger." Chaput, who admitted to using this alias in court, wrote nearly 1,000 articles for the neo-Nazi outlet "The Daily Stormer.”

In December 2015, Alisher Mukhitdinov, a now 36-year-old from Moscow, Russia, launched Rope Culture. Mukhitdinov is from a politically connected family and studied at Moscow State University, but was expelled after missing an exam. He is most known by his online alias “Alexander Slavros.”

Larson also claimed that Roof enjoyed an article published in Rope Culture which praised Roof and other mass shooters like Anders Breivik, and that Roof called its author “a very enlightened individual.” We were unable to confirm Larson’s correspondence with Roof.

The most baffling email is from American pedophila advocate & failed congressional candidate Nathan Larson, who sought support and signatures for a petition to allow white nationalist mass shooter Dylann Roof to run for a seat in congress. Larson died in 2022 while facing child pornography charges.

The document’s metadata named the author as “FreyH ome,” which matches Frey’s last name. The article submission calls upon fascists to “wage the inner Jihad” through prayer, weightlifting, and abstaining from pornography. The article was never published and the email never replied to.

Travis Frey, a former captain at an ICE detention facility who was identified as an Iron March user in 2019 by @tessowen.bsky.social, submitted an article draft to the Rope Culture email address, called “The Greater Holy War,” and listed his Iron March username: “In Hoc Signo Vinces.”

In an email message, a person using the email address kalanta@tutanota.com sent a Word document containing a draft of the article whose metadata attributed authorship to a “Baltrušis Baltrušaitis Lukas.” This name matches a freelance stage technician in Kaunas, Lithuania.

“Teliavelis” was a member of the Lithuanian neo-Nazi group Skydas and wrote an article published on Rope Culture. This user registered for Iron March with the email address “lukas.baltrusis@gmail.com.”
