For the last decade I have been struggling with chronic pain and fatigue, and it's only getting worse. I have seen physiotherapists, chiropractors, and doctors. I had a microdiscectomy to repair a badly herniated disc three years ago, but that only did so much. I have tried many prescription medications but none had a big enough effect to continue taking them (they're hard on the stomach). I have had to drop out of school and am struggling to find a job because of my pain and fatigue. I also struggle to do things with my friends and family that I used to really enjoy (e.g., walking on the boardwalk for the afternoon, going to the mall, going to events). I'm on the waitlist to see a specialist, but day to day life is really difficult for me right now. It has gotten to the point where a manual wheelchair would be so beneficial to my every day life. It would help me recover some of my freedom, allow me to actually live, and possibly help me find a job. They are, though, expensive. The cheapest option of a good-quality wheelchair is about $350. Because I dropped out of school, I no longer have extended health insurance, so I will have to pay for the wheelchair completely out of pocket. I have a little bit saved, but since I'm not working I also have to be careful with how much I spend so that I can afford food and everything. Any amount would be so so appreciated!
