I have to chime in about Justin Baldoni, even though I never write about celebrities. I’ve been a huge fan since Jane the Virgin. I felt like I knew Justin and could trust him. Now with this lawsuit and Blake Lively’s allegations, it makes me realize:

- We don’t really “know” celebrities (1/2)

I WANT TO BE A GOOD VOICE IN THIS WORLD.

I WANT TO BE A GOOD VOICE IN THIS WORLD.

Those are the words I wrote in my journal yesterday for Morning Pages. And they are true to my soul and life’s mission. You too?

Called my husband’s grandma tonight to talk through HER mother’s “famous” Thanksgiving rolls recipe. And gosh, if that isn’t what holidays are about — passing around love and food and traditions. ❤️

Mom Truth: There’s not a lot of margin… ever.

The minute you feel on top of laundry or the kids finally sleep through the night, someone gets sick or your car needs new brakes.

I always think I’ll “get ahead” next week, but the truth is, I’ll never get ahead. I’ll just be here for them.

Alright, BlueSky writer friends.

What are your best tips for waiting during the querying process?

So far, I’ve heard:
- write something new
- distract yourself with other hobbies
- step away from checking your inbox

But really, does anything help?? #amwriting #amquerying

A real dream come true to see my tiny vignette in the NYT (this was back in Nov 2022). A special shout-out to @TimHerrera & @ortile.bsky.social for their personal essay workshop. You shared tips on how to craft a scene and they were top of mind. Can't thank you enough!

Have you ever finished a book and then not wanted to read another one because it was so good you didn't want to ruin the taste in your mouth of such exquisite writing? That's how I felt after reading Kevin Wilson's Nothing to See Here. What was yours?
