70mm fest starting with Die Hard 1, 2 and 3. Then There Will Be Blood and The Master. Then Get Out and Nope. Then Jaws and Close Encounters. Then Top Gun Maverick and Ford vs Ferrari. Then The Abyss and Aliens.

Samantha has to gush about sex every time the four girls meet so we can see Charlotte squirm. Then we know she’s the prude. In a modern retelling of the show we could have watched more of the sidekicks explored lives and less of their stereotyped reactions to Carrie’s boring sex life.

Modern shows do not have to revisit foundational character traits as often, stories can move faster, reveal more. Binge watch Happy Days, completely unwatchable. By the third “oh Howard” I’m out.

Binge watching weekly serials reminds me of the age where we had to be reminded every week of a character’s exaggerated lanes they live inside.

There’s a subtext to this public fight about lack of resources. I love Tom Petty but he makes for lousy governing.

This sounds like an over reaction by the courts. I lived downtown during the olympics and G7 meetings, lightest traffic in history. Eby should order them open for business.

It’s always hard to know without a dvd extras who contributed what to a movie. Malice is one of my all time favs and it was today I learned he contributed. His tv work is so outstanding though. He is raising the art of longform story.

Diane Lane’s vocals are a composite of two singers, Laurie Sargent and Holly Sherwood.

The final concert scene was filmed long after principle production had finished. Overruns in production bankrupted the studio, but to recoup their loss they banked it all on that scene, going deeper in debt

Winston Ford recorded that song and Countdown to Love for the movie and it’s his vocals in the movie. The story goes Hartman saw an early cut of the movie, saw the song as a hit and re-recorded the vocals for himself. Jim Steinman, the man behind Meatloaf, wrote Ellen Aim’s music.

Canadas immigration hasn’t kept pace with our aging and declining population. We need born in Canada trades people too. Evicting low cost housing tenants for denser neighbourhoods doesn’t make sense either. Single family detached homes make for nice trades.

Not migrants, immigrants. We have a tradespeople deficit of more than 1,000,0000 in Canada. We need to train people to keep the cost of construction labour stable. A building boom will only raise costs. Public lands and stable labour is the recipe. Prioritizing on the permit side also a factor.
